It´s Time to Act for Young Women
For decades women have been referred to as objects rather than subjects with rights and desires. Enough is enough. It’s time to make a change.
Young women represent the majority of the population in Central America. However, the opportunity to live up to their full potential is stifled by a male-dominated society which discriminates against young people, specifically the contributions of young women.

Two women, two different places, united for a single cause. In April, two women decided to organize fundraising events to contribute to the FCAM and support women’s rights in central America.
Nadia Alvarado-Culmann, who has been one of FCAM’s friend for years and is currently living in Indianapolis, USA, organized a Salsa social fundraiser with her Latin Expression Dance Company and her friends. They performed an amazing show with the debut of different artists. The audience experienced a very ecstatic night dancing to the rhythm of salsa music and contributing to the FCAM’s work.

Funds Available to Support Women´s Reproductive Rights!
Reproductive rights are human rights! Based on this premise and taking into account the realities of women in Central America, where there is little to no autonomy for women to make decisions about their lives and their bodies, the Fondo Centroamericano de Mujeres (FCAM, Central American Women´s Fund) has created the “My Body is Mine” Program to contribute directly to the empowerment of local, regional and national initiatives that promote and defend the reproductive rights of women in Central America.
As such, we are calling for groups, organizations and feminist networks in Central America to send us your projects. Proposals should be focused on the promotion and defense of women’s reproductive rights, from a feminist perspective, with an emphasis on freely chosen motherhood, emergency contraception, abortion and therapeutic abortion.
