2017 leave us great lessons, opportunities and challenges that strengthened and consolidated us internally, and that also prompted us to innovate, and to think “outside the box” to continue to defend women’s rights and social justice.
At the close of this newsletter, we have delivered U$1,384,389.68 to 100 groups, organizations and networks of women in Central America and other regions of the world. We also delivered U$542,728 to the Mesoamerican Initiative of Women Human Rights Defenders (IMD) and $57,439 for strategic support.
We consolidated relationships with other foundations and women’s funds that allowed us to continue learning and mobilizing resources together. Some examples of these collaborations:
- With Win Win Strategies, Women Win and the GAP Foundation, we are developing a capacity building process for groups of young women in three countries of Central America.
- With the OAK Foundation, we were able to expand the support to our partner organizations and incorporated new organizations from Guatemala, who work on issues such as migration, labor rights and violence against women in conflict situations.
- With the support of the NoVo Foundation, we initiated a Central American Alliance formed by key organizations in the region, to address the situation of migrant girls.
We also have internal achievements. After several years the building where we operate was acquired by FCAM and our organizational family has continued to grow and consolidate. This year, we were able to create three new positions. An Associate Director based in Nicaragua and two co workers in Guatemala.
We still have challenges, for example to improve the internal communication and synergies between different teams, and strengthen our capacities for a more effective and efficient performance, both, as teams and as FCAM. We are encouraged and inspired!
Thank you to the FCAM team for their contributions and their commitment to the changes and for being part of this organization. Thank you to our partner organizations for the work they do in their communities and for the mutual learning. Thank you to our institutional and individual donors, for their contributions and commitment to the rights of women and young women.
Happy new year 2018!
