In addition to contributing to women’s movements in Central America, FCAM was created with the purpose of democratizing access to financing. As an ally of women’s organizations and in the search of diverse ways to mobilize resources, we have worked with a wide variety of organizations and networks at the national, regional and international levels.
Globally, women’s funds are leaders in funding the work of defending the human rights of women, and as FCAM we have built close relationships with our peers in several regions around the world. We are part of the International Network of Women’s Funds (INWF), of which our Executive Director, Carla López, has been the co-president since 2013. Carla is also a part of the advisory committee of the Global Fund for Women and the Urgent Action Fund. Additionally, we collaborate closely with Mama Cash and Fundación Astraea.
Mobilizing resources for women’s rights is a growing challenge. For this reason, we have found that joint initiatives are an excellent way to create closer alliances, collaborate, learn, share knowledge, strengthen each other’s organizations, and raise funds with other organizations, networks, and women’s funds with whom we share objectives and work approaches.
Joint initiatives also allow us to leverage the complementary strengths of each of the partners involved. Each organization contributes valuable experience in order to fulfill the established goals and amplify the impact of our work.
We are currently a part of two joint initiatives: The Mesoamerican Initiative of Women’s Human Rights Defenders (IMDefensoras) and the Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA).
